Fabulous Nails

Yay! My order from Fabulous Nails finally came in. This is the new HOTTEST trend going on right now. Stickers for your toes and finger nails. I absolutely love them. I mean come on. Who wouldn't love cute nails like this? They come in all kinds of designs. Better yet they last up to 3 weeks. They may seem pricey at first, but you get several applications in one batch. Here is the sheet that I got for $12 (actually mine were free). After doing my toes this is how much I still had left. You just cut, trim to size, heat with blow dryer, and stick on. Trim excess off with nail file. Some people order together with a friend. That way you can switch designs back and forth, but don't have to pay for all the different styles.

Birthday Box

Like I said before I have been called into the Primary Presidency now, and I have came up with this idea for the birthday handouts.
Take a balloon
Some Candy
A sticker
Wrap with tissue paper and stuff inside a box.
Look! You have just created a Paper Birthday Cake. Now each child can come up and grab a slice of cake filled with yummies. What a TREAT! (sorry I ran out of ribbon thats why the top 1/2 only has it)
Here is the template that I found on line. Hope it helps in your cake decorating. If you google paper cakes, there are tons of designs that pop up. You can make them elaborate as you want. Mine are pretty simple due to budget issues.

Canning & Pioneer Day

My last Relief Society activity that I planned was a canning class. Request via the sisters. Since Pioneer Day was also going on earlier that week I thought we could combine the 2 classes. Since Pioneers are self efficient and had to work for everything. That is what they had to do for this class. WORK!
When the sisters first arrived they had to make them selves a paper bonnet. In order to be a pioneer you have to look the part, right? Then they had to set up their own tables and chairs. I loved this part, because I finally didn't have to do it all myself. Once they got set up we had a line of work for them to do to get their food and eat.

Hang clothes out on the line
Milk the cow (painted cow on board, hospital gloves for utters)
Get homemade bread and Jam (people signed up to bring)
Make homemade butter (shake heavy whipping cream in baby food jar)

After they did their work and got their refreshments they were able to sit down, enjoy, and learn how to can their own food.

Super Saturday Projects

I am sad to say that this past Sunday I was released from my calling as the Relief Society Enrichment Committee. I had lots of fun exploring my creative side planning all different kinds of activities for the women. Even though I will not be in charge of the Super Saturday any more I did want to go ahead and still post what I had in store for them. Even though I'm not in charge I'm sure I will still be there teaching them how to make some of this stuff. I will apologize in advance. I didn't come up with any of these ideas. I got them from blog hopping of course. The sad thing is it has been so long ago when I was searching that I have forgotten who to give credit too. Therefore I don't have tutorials for them. I'm sorry.

This year was a challenge. The bishop and R.S. President came to us asking us to make the Super Saturday projects almost ALL FREE! What? This was hard, because almost everything cost money. Especially the really cute stuff. But we took them up on their challenge and tried to find fun, simple, cute, and inexpensive crafts. This is what we came up with... We did have to throw in a few ones that cost money, but still not a lot of money.

Book Wreath: FREE
(bring your own old book)

T-Shirt Gym Bag: Free
(bring your old t-shirts, time to clean out the closets)

T-Shirt Scarf: Free
(Bring your old t-shirts)

Marble Magnets: Free
(this one did cost a little money, but the R.S. President wanted us to chalk it up out of the R.S. budget since it doesn't cost that much)

Gift Tags: Free
(out of R.S. budget)
Snack or First Aid Kit Pot Holder:  cost: $2.00

Candy Dish: cost: $5.00
Click here for tutorial (this isn't the exact one that is in the picture above, but I couldn't find this one again. But it is the same concept you just paint them different colors for the look that you are going for)
Quit Book: cost: $10.00

Leg Warmers

With my daughter being in ice skating it is hard to dress her warmly with out her having layers layers of clothes making her look like the state puff marshmallow man. She has to wear the bear minimum so she can still move around with ease and poise. I thought what better way than leg warmers. 80's is back in style anyways right?
As I was walking around Walmart they had a $1 rack full of clothes. I thought heck I could find something in there that I could use. I found this sweater and it sparked my mind. And so I came up with my idea.
First cut off the sleeves right at the armpit
Then fold the end that you just cut over 2 times to make sure it doesn't end up fraying later on and sew to seal it off. Yes, my sleeves are uneven. I did not measure right on the cutting, but I was in a hurry so it had to work. And what do you know when my daughter put them on you couldn't notice, because they bunch up anyways.
There you have it folks. Leg Warmers for $1. This was a very easy project only taking about 5 minutes to make. Since this one I have made 3 more. I went back to Walmart and got all the different colors they had. I figured you couldn't pass up $1 sweaters or should I say, leg warmers.

Who Knew?

All month we have been preparing for our church's R.S. Birthday Celebration. Tonight was finally the BIG night. Our Activity Organizer, Sis. Gubler, came up with the idea of wanting to play Family Feud. I love games, so of course I was on board with this idea. She put me in charge of coming up with a gift to give the sisters.
What I came up with was an owl necklace. We had 3 different designs to choose from. When they wear them they can always remember "who" they came from and "who" their sisters are. I will have a tutorial on how to make these later.
Then for refreshments Sis. Gubler found these cute little owl cupcakes in a magazine. They followed along perfectly with our "Who" theme.
We even made a bunch of little owls too
We combined everything on one table. That way when they came up to get their dessert they could also pick out their gift.
Instead of calling our game Family Feud we called it "Who Knew" Hear is Sis. Gubler as the Host and me as Vana White. Yes, I know Vana is on Wheel Of Fortune, but somebody had to pull the answer cards off and keep score
For our teams we have the COOL KIDS (who ended up being our winners)
and the ROCKIN' SOCKIN' RELIEF SOCIETYOnce we started it got competitive REAL quick. Melanie means business. She is determined to hit that buzzer first. I didn't know these ladies could get so vicious.
What? Sis. Daniel only got 4 out of the 50 votes for, "Name a sister in our Ward?" Come on people she is our Relief Society president. She should have been the #1 answer.
People kept arguing some of the answers. But Sis. Gubler is like, "Hey don't blame me. I didn't make these answers up. I called all of you! This is what y'all came up with"
The highlight of my whole night was when Rose came up to play. She was so quick to buzz the buzzer and then froze. She couldn't remember her answer for anything. She kept blaming it on old age. It was the sweetest and funniest thing of the whole night. I Love her to death. Sis. Daniel had to end up coming up and telling her an answer in her ear because she could never come up with one.

I have to say all of our hard work paid off. We had such a fun time. I love when I am able to get together with all of these wonderful ladies. "Who Knew" they could be such fun?

Now remember the question....Do you know "Who" you are? I can never forget "Who" my sisters are. They always bring a smile to my face.
